After leaving Cobar , we headed south once more turning off at Mt Hope and on to Lake Cargelligo Weir on the Lachlan River. To get to the weir it is dirt road and very dusty but to us it is worth it. Finding a lovely spot we set up and threw the yabbie pots in again. No Luck this time with the yabbies , caught quite a few shrimp though. Kev used the shrimp to catch a large Carp. We stayed for 2 nights cooking in the camp oven with an open fire. Soooo peaceful and relaxing.
Through to Lake Wyangan outside of Griffith for the next night. Then on to Narrandera where we visited our friends Rick and Norma for a couple of days. They treated us to some Murray Cod which was delicious . We have done some grain harvesting work in this area before but this year has been a poor one so no work for us this time around.
The tyres on our caravan were looking a bit worse for wear so ringing around we found Dave at Town and Country Tyres in Leeton beat every quote .We would recommend these guys.
Every town has something to see and in Hay we came across a beautiful old building which is now a Westpac Bank. Hay boasts a few different types of Museums, Gaol, War, Shearing etc. There is free bike hire and Heritage Trails to follow.
Deniliquin on the Edward river has the famous Deni Ute Muster once a year in October and the Naponda Markets are on every second Saturday of the month.
It was overcast and showery so we stopped in Barham to grab a bottle of Rum then on to Gonn Crossing on the Murray River for the night. Tonight is a roast chicken on the rotisserie and some Rum chasers.
