Before leaving Farm Beach we took a drive to Gallipoli Beach. It is 4 kms up from Farm Beach. Deciding to take the scrub track (which is 4WD only) we headed off taking an hour to get there. This so called track is not used very often so we found out, its very sandy with twists and turns and huge ruts with the shrubs brushing down the sides of our Ute and sometimes i thought we were nearly on 2 wheels in some very steep places. It was fun though and such beautiful scenery at the end. We took the easy road home and the scratches on the Ute are not too bad after all. Next morning we left Farm Beach and headed north west stopping in at the Leo Cummings Monument and Lookout, the view from these cliffs is spectacular.

Didn’t like to get too close to the edge !!
We called in at Elliston (very pretty place) to top up with water at the information centre. If you want town water it is free but if you want tank water they ask for a donation. I think that is awesome service.
Murphy’s Haystacks up the road is worth a look as well. Here we met a true gentleman farmer by the name of Dennis Cash, he has some stories to tell about the area. Dennis’s mother was a Murphy so the property has stayed in the family for generations.

Next camp for the night was beautiful Perlubie Beach. There are thatched roof shelters along this beach and you can even camp on the beach if want but 4WD is a must. We spoke to a local man who has pulled numerous people off the beach with his tractor (2 that day). Getting up the next morning I went outside to put my sandals on to go for a walk and nearly stepped on a Shingleback lizard (who was getting friendly with one of my sandals) and got a bit of a fright. I don’t think he liked it either.

Kev got some great footage at Perlubie Beach for our upcoming videos “Living the Dream”

Haslam was our next overnighter, we have stayed here numerous times. It is only $5 per night, this camp has a flushing toilet and a good jetty to fish off, but a bit too windy for us this time .
