After leaving Silverton we decided to go the back way to Tibooburra. The road was just a dusty track through peoples properties. I must have opened at least a dozen gates. Always remember to leave the gates as you found them. (If they are open leave them open if they are shut please shut them again.)
Camping along the side of the road was hot, dry and dusty, we were in NSW now so we could have a fire to cook our camp oven. We have missed cooking in the camp oven, nothing tastes better.
Driving through this hot country every little bit of shade was taken up with cattle, sheep, goats but mostly kangaroos trying to get some relief from the heat. Sometimes you don’t know where on earth they would get water from.
The Silhouettes at the 3 entrances into Tibooburra are very artistic, each one is different. One of the local fellows builds them out of 6mm steel, very clever man.

There are several things of interest to look at in Tibooburra.
The Lookout
Going up to the lookout was eyeopening , no trees in the distance just rocks and bare land as far as you can see.
The 2 pubs in town are quite different. One has been refurbished with lots of interesting finds picked up from everywhere and is nearly finished (it has gold inlaid into the grooves in the wooden slabbed bar) very impressive. The other has murals painted throughout, of course we had a drink at both. We were also told about a boulder perched on a rock just out of town, it sits on 3 small points.

After staying in the Caravan park for a couple of days (with aircon) we were back on the road heading west to Cameron Corner where the 3 states meet QLD / NSW / SA. The only things out here are the Marker for the states the Dog fence and the Corner Store.
