We travelled through Brewarrina on to Bourke. Bourke is on the Darling river and was once a major Trading Post and River Port. The wharf has many levels to cater for the rising or lowering of the flood waters. In town most of the businesses have metal shutters over their windows and doors (which indicated to us not to stay in town). We stayed by the river about 5 kms outside of town for 2 nights where Kev and I put the yabbie traps in and were pleasently surprised to catch this feed. It was a lovely camp. Next town we headed for was Cobar . We found a lovely spot at the Newey Reserve overlooking the water. Melbourne Cup Day was at the Bowling and Golf Club, but alas we could not pick a winner. There is always next year. HaHa
