Leaving our home in Bundaberg, we headed up to Gladstone to visit our son and grandchildren. We stayed at the free camp at Calliope river, it is always a lovely place to stay right on the river bank. Kev did a little cast netting and caught a few prawns, the smaller ones we kept for bait and the larger ones we cooked and ate.
Kev and I usually don,t get sick but our grandchildren were sick and passed it on to us. So I got a cold and Kev got the man flu (of course). What fun !!
Carmilla is always a favorite for us so it was a must stop. It wasn’t as busy here as we would have expected. Finding a nice spot right on the beach we drove in and proceeded to get bogged. The sand was much deeper and softer than we thought. Letting the tyres down we were soon out of the bog, set up and fishing off the beach and catching some whiting it was awesome.
Over looking the beach, listening to the ocean and having a campfire to cook our camp oven dinner was just perfect.
Bowen was our next port of call. I think we got the best site again overlooking the ocean. 
Usually great Mackeral fishing at Bowen but we were a couple of months early. Enjoyed putting the boat in the water anyway. A couple of days here was so relaxing.
Selling a few of our Dvds “Living the Dream” Disc 1 on our journey and hearing people are loving it is a great feeling.
