Leaving Shady Camp we headed for Darwin to stay at Lee Point Caravan Park, planning on staying a week or so to have a good look around.
Putting the boat in yet again we motored to the next creek along to throw the crab pots in and have a fish. We put the boat in on 3 different occasions during our stay and all in all we caught a couple of Barramundi, Threadfin Salmon, Cod a Cobia and 3 Mud Crabs, not too shabby I think.
Making the time to have a look around Darwin we drove to Stokes Hill Wharf which offers Eateries and Panoramic views. The wharf also has Tour Boats and a booking Office.
The Royal Flying Doctors Service Darwin Tourist Facility and the Bombing of Darwin Attraction is a must see while here aswell.
Very interesting to learn how the RFDS started and grew over the years, from Camels to Motor Vehicles and now boasting 61 Planes.
The Bombing of Darwin Attraction was voted No.1 for its Virtual Reality Experience by Google in 2018 and we found it fascinating.
Driving out to Gunn Point we explored the old Gaol and Abandoned buildings and the Cyclone Shelters that they used back then.
Next on our list was Reidy’s Lure factory where they Make, Paint and Swim Test each and every Lure, Kev found this very interesting and couldn’t resist getting some of these Lures.
Crcosaraus Cove in Darwin was another attraction well worth the visit. Kev really wanted to go in the Cage of Death but it was booked out at the time. Claire Clark a brave young lady was happy to let us film her going down in the thick perspex tank into the water with a Saltwater Crocodile while they fed the Croc right next to her. Scary Stuff.
I got to hold a 2 year old crocodile named Fluffy his belly was so soft like a snakes. You can also fish for crocs ( no hooks just meat on a stick) or swim with the small ones. View their Barramundi, Archer Fish and Whip Rays and walk through their Reptile Display. We had a great time here. Thanks guys.
Of course we couldn’t leave Darwin without walking through the Mindil Beach Markets where you can buy all sorts of things and there is a huge selection of food from all over the world. YUM!!
Thanks Darwin !!
