Stopped just outside of a little place called Murabit at Gonn Crossing a little free camp. We camped here for 2 nights, had lovely small fires on the bank of the Murray and cooked in the camp oven. While there we met the principal of the Murabit school who told us a little about the area. Locals often come down to the river just to have a look.
Next on to Swan Hill to have a look around and pick up some supplies. Swan Hill is rich in history with a Pioneer Village that has 50 relocated and restored buildings, historic equipment, machinery and household items. There is Laser spectacular and of course a Paddle boat which we had to go on. The PS PYAP took us up the mighty Murray river to the original Murray Downs Homestead where the views of this place are breathtaking.
I just had to get a pic with the big Murray Cod also in Swan Hill.
On to Mildura where we stayed for 3 days. As Mildura is near the SA border we had to dispose of our fruit and veg before crossing, so the next couple of days were spent eating and cooking our fruit and veg. We were going to stop at Bruces bend on the south western side of Mildura, as it had been raining the previous week it was a little boggy so we had to turn our rig around on a small dirt road ( a bit tricky but Kev is a very experienced driver ). This is where we met Peter or Spotty as he likes to be known. Spotty has been a local of this area for 37 years and he showed us to a camp further on called Psyche Bend Pump. Absolutely beautiful spot right on the bank of the Murray where we watched house boats , ski boats, fishing boats, canoes and more enjoying this great river. Very relaxing and enjoyable stay.
